Montara Mail

Reading and sending

The mail list, the reader, compose, reply and forward.

The mail list

  • Folders and labels sit in the sidebar: Inbox, Archive, Drafts, Sent, Spam and Trash, and the labels Important, Low priority and Broadcast. The Inbox shows its unread count, Spam its total.
  • Accounts: the switcher above the folders picks the mailbox; each account shows its unread count.
  • Search matches the sender and the subject. Press ⌘K (or Ctrl K) to jump to it.
  • Pages hold 10, 25, 50 or 100 mails.

Bulk actions

Tick mails, or the box in the list header to select the whole page, then archive, report spam (or not spam), move to trash (delete for good from Trash), mark read or unread, or move to another folder. A toast shows the action running and how it went.

The reader

The reader shows the sender, recipients, date and the mail itself. HTML mail renders in a sandboxed frame, so scripts in a mail never run. From the reader you can print, forward, star, and agree or disagree with the AI's label: disagreeing picks another label, and a label you set is never overridden by the AI.

Compose, reply and forward

  • Reply threads under the original mail and quotes it. Add Cc, attachments and formatting (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, lists).
  • Forward sends to up to 20 addresses with an optional note on top.
  • Compose starts a new mail from any connected account.

Attachments: up to 10 files of 18 MB in total, which stays under the 25 MB most providers accept. Mail goes out through the account's own SMTP server.
